Welcome to Sassafras Office, a brand under The Wilenstein Company family of businesses. For years, we've crafted authentic American hardwood furniture for offices, banks, hotels, and more. Every piece is proudly made in the USA from real, eco-friendly wood. Expertly designed, meticulously crafted, and never on a ship. We are proud keepers of authenticity of American craftsmanship.
Formerly only known as “Wilenstein”, we have undergone a rigorous rebranding for a very simple reason: trying to say Wilenstein is challenging. And so was Googling it and spelling it. To our long-time customers who still can’t remember how to say or spell it, we apologize! We’ve decided to give our sophisticated clientele a break with a brand name that represents our values and principles better. It also doesn’t hurt that it is easier to say and spell.
Don’t fret, we are still here for all who have come to know us and appreciate everything we offer them and for the new ones who are just discovering us today. Sassafras Office has been a decade in the making, and it is finally making its first digital footsteps that still carry the Intricate Quality and Enduring Integrity of our legacy

About our Founders
Jonathan Miller
Jonathan and his wife Heather, while currently residing in Virginia Beach, love the richness of life acquired by having friends all over the world. With two girls and two boys, they love traveling, obsessing over beautiful flowers and grass around the house, Legos, finding a quiet beach, and visiting family across the United States and Europe.
Jonathan grew up working with his dad who is a master craftsman. Custom furniture, cabinetry, and beautiful trim work in residential and commercial construction were all a part of his youth. After years in the custom design & build industry, he finds immense satisfaction in his work providing beautiful office furniture where people can work and meet in an elegant and healthy environment. He also enjoys smoking. Meat, that is.

James Zook
James and his wife Becky are the happy parents of six girls and grandparents of two. They reside in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Hillsville, VA.
From a young age James began working in his father’s custom cabinet shop in coastal Virginia. Doing small jobs at first, he climbed the family business ranks as he gained experience installing, then moving to production management, and on to sales and design. His experience in high end woodworking, CAD drawings and furniture engineering, as well as general business management, are vital to his success in the business.
Evenings and weekends James and his family may be busy finding or enjoying amazing food. If he’s not doing something delicious at home, you might find him sniffing out the best restaurants within driving distance. You will even find him cycling the parkway when the weather is nice, and he feels motivated.
